Terry Longden

Terry LongdenTerry was born 10th June 1963 in the city of Birmingham, UK. Excelled at art in school and soon developed an eye for the dramatic. Terry entered the 80's and embracing the punk/new romantic period Terry started experimenting with make-up and soon with his training in hairdressing became a stylist and make-up artist.

1986 then sees Terry taken on as hair and make-up artist for his uncle, Ozzy Osbourne, with the 'Ultimate Sin World Tour'. Shortly after his return Terry continues to educate himself and open his own salon just outside of the city of Birmingham.

Still continuing in hairdressing and working as a freelance hair and make-up artist for session work, and occasional consultant for Braun, Terry continued with training and became an accomplished hair extensionist for 'Raccoon International' and later achieved one of the highest qualifications to receive in hairdressing, 'The L'Oreal Colour Specialist Degree'.

Shortly after passing his degree, Terry then began the European tour as hair and make-up artist for Kelly Osbourne who was opening for Robbie Williams, this was when he applied for a position on Channel 4's reality television show 'The Salon'.

Terry was then chosen from thousands of applicants who applied for the show, and stayed on The Salon for a continual 25 weeks on the TV show, which incidentally became the longest continual running reality TV show 'ever' and with constantly being filmed 'live' daily for 10 hours, Terry continued to develop his skills as an all round hairdresser, make-up artist, personal makeover stylist and television personality, including standing in for Brian Dowling as the voice -over artist for The Salon and numerous award presentations, TV and radio interviews.

Terry then went on to star in the first 'live' episodes of ITV's 'Love on a Saturday Night' hosted by Davina McCall, as one of the 'surprise makeover team'.

Shortly after, Terry was then flown to America where he regularly appeared as the makeover stylist on 'The Sharon Osbourne Show' and was also filmed for the fourth series of 'The Osbournes'.

On Terry's return from the states, he embarked on an Irish and UK tour for the global hair company 'MATRIX', where he was part of a hair industry facilitated stage show, comprising of dancers and where Terry performed and demonstrated in front of a 300 strong audience as the 'only' Artistic Director for colour.

The second half of 2004 then shows Terry as an image stylist for Sharon Osbourne's three finalists of the highly successful ITV talent show 'The X Factor', of which Terry became a weekly critic on ITV's This Morning and wrote a weekly revue of the show in NOW magazine. In between working on The X Factor, Terry also managed to join a few of the dates on MATRIX 'So Twisted' autumn road show and also appear on Bo Selecta's 'A Bears Christmas Tail' for Channel 4.

The beginning of 2005 Terry begins his own weekly 'male grooming column' in The Daily Express and guest appearances on BBC3's Celebrity Fame Academy and ITV2's Celebrity Wrestling, and Terry was again touring with MATRIX on their highly successful 'In The Zone' road show and in between has been filming his own TV project.

In the second half of 2005, Terry has continued to film for his latest project as well as headline the MATRIX sponsored Fellowship tour and Judge 'Most Wanted Awards' for the 'Media Darling' category and present awards at the Raccoon conference. Terry also took centre stage late of 2005 for the Peacocks annual conference to an audience of over 1000 delegates to perform live make-overs on stage and video-link.

An appearance on the Channel 5 Trisha Christmas special saw Terry's last TV appearance of 2005 as well as working at the second season of The X Factor , Terry re-invented and took control of Sharon Osbourne's new hairstyle, which at the time caused controversy, but was voted Best Celebrity Hairstyle of 2005.

As MATRIX' only Artistic Director for Colour, Terry has been an integral part of the launch of the 'new tech' SoColor Beauty hair colour range for 2006, touring the UK and Europe with platform exhibitions for trade professionals and corporate conferencing, educating and troubleshooting along with a successful Creative Colour Design education course, written and taught by Terry.

During mid-2006 Terry continues to open and launch academies up and down the UK and hosts a charity auction for the Smile Foundation.

Near the end of 2006 Terry hosts a fashion show in aid of The Belfast Children In Need and appears on the live show to take calls and raise more money for the charity and as a guest host for AIDS2000 Red Ribbon Ball at the Europa Hotel in Belfast.

2007 kicks off with more guest TV appearance on E Hollywood True Story 'The Osbournes' a visit to Elton John's Oscar Viewing party in LA and Elton John Aids Foundation's White Tie and Tiara Ball, also another course for MATRIX; Signature Colour to run with his Creative Colour Design and a corporate, technical DVD for MATRIX.

March 2007 also became an important time for Terry as he publicly discloses his HIV status in a two page spread for NOW magazine, and with his positive attitude and publicly speaking against the stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS, is asked to become Ambassador for the Northern Irish based charity, AIDS2000.

Terry's involvement with the charity combined with his own personal experience and passionate fight against the stigma surrounding this pandemic, has now moved Terry to another area of his personal and professional life, where raising money and awareness of this disease and it's effects, is adding another aspect to Terry Longden of which he had never thought possible.
